Clearly, technical training is vital to preparedness and success in the public safety field. But, in today’s world, successful public safety professionals must possess a much broader knowledge of the managerial and organizational components of public service. They must have a deeper understanding of how domestic and worldwide issues, such as terrorism, impact their organizations both internally and from the public’s perspective. The Public Safety Administration program was created to address this need. The goal of this program is to provide public safety professionals the education they need to be more effective as leaders in their organizations and advance in their careers. This degree prepares students for careers in departments including, Fire and EMS, Criminal Justice, and Emergency and Disaster Management. In addition, this degree is available to help students secure jobs at the local, state and federal levels. Employment trends in this career field indicate that there is an increased need in providing students with a new and innovative curriculum that would provide the necessary knowledge and facilitate the development of skills needed to assume administrative and leadership roles in public safety organizations. Growth in this industry is related to changes in the global climate and societal concerns.
